“This is what the Lord says: As a shepherd saves from the lion’s mouth only two leg bones or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites be saved…” – Amos 3:12
This paints a vivid picture! The lion (representing Satan) devoured a sheep (representing the people of God- or to make it more personal – you and me). In this passage, when the shepherd saw there was nothing left of the sheep except a piece of its ear (or a couple of legs) he walks over and SNATCHED the remnant parts from the mouth of the lion. WHY? If I were the shepherd, I would see that it is over – my sheep has been devoured. It’s too late. It’s finished.
BUT GOD! That shepherd, who is a picture of Jesus, SAW IN THAT SHEEP something that was STILL REDEEMABLE!
And God looked down from heaven and saw one forlorn, alcoholic, addict, drug smuggling fugitive woman living on the run in Mexico, and said …. I can STILL REDEEM her! She is my daughter, created in my image and she’s about to hit rock bottom and look UP to Me! She doesn’t realize how much I love her and she has no clue that I am going to radically rescue and redeem her life. She has nothing left but a tattered remnant of what her life once was. She has lost all hope. She lost her left leg to amputation. She lost custody of her only son, Tyler, and she’s at the end of her rope.
But I see something I can STILL REDEEM!!! Her story isn’t over yet!!
As long as you have an ear to hear and a leg to stand on (in other words, you are standing on the Word of God) it doesn’t matter what the enemy has devoured! God can redeem it! It’s not what you’ve lost – it’s what you have left! It’s never too late to be what you might have been and it’s never too late for your dream to come to pass! NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
